Success is perceived in many different ways according to the individuals dreams and goals. It's kind of like beauty. The old saying, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" has never been more real to me than after living life. This saying is true and synonymous to success. How you perceive success and the journey along the way will determine if you accept the different levels of it. How you perceive the journey will dictate the outcome. But, are all the journey's alike?
A journey is personal and not to be compared with others. Although we may learn from one another. The path still won't be the same. Your road map to success may be different, take a shorter time frame or longer than someone else. You may have detours along the way, but you will get to the destination sooner or later.
I like to reflect on the story of Thomas Edison. One of the most innovative minds this world has encountered. Did you know that Thomas Edison was the first to perfect the incandescent light? It was invented but Edison perfected it. To everyone else, his journey was a failure because in their eyes, he did not get any results, so they thought. Well, through research, it is said that Edison replied to reporters in this manner: When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps." Wow! Some would try something one time and then give up, but not Edison. His perception of falling was like a stairway to reach where he ultimately wanted to go. Now that's a strong mind! Some say that he attempted this more that 10,000 times but here we are with lights that work perfectly! He is also the inventor of phonography and what is the first projector. I guess Edison only knows the real turmoil of falling but not failing. He didn't give up until he had results. His roadmap to success took countless hours, endurance, hard work, and the will to persevere. I'm sure Edison had to have a positive outlook on his dream and a will to just do it and that is why he continued. He didn't accept no for an answer.
What is your definition of success? What are you telling yourself each day about your dreams and goals? Are you accepting no for an answer? Are you confident in what direction your life is going? How will you create the life you want? What is your road map to success?
These are some questions you should reflect on everyday to spark your motivation to have the success you want.
Lastly, you may have a certain vision for how you would like your life to be, and that's good. Remember you create the life you want. The success of your life in all aspects depends solely on you.
Road map to success:
!.) Vision (What you see for your life which takes a level of commitment to the vision)
2.) Think (Planning and goal setting)
3.) Count up the Cost (Figure out what it will take)
4.) Take Action (Move! Start completing the goals to reach your vision)
5.) Journey (enjoy each step and stay aware with where you are)
6.) Persevere (Through all obstacles don't let it get you down and don't accept NO!)
7.) Be diligent and consistent (Work on your vision everyday no matter how small)
8.) Repeat
Everyday you have to condition your mind for success. If that means getting a new set of people in your circle then do it! If that means carrying a briefcase before you have the business then do it! Creation starts in the mind and then becomes passion in your heart. Then from out the heart, the mouth speaks. Speak success into your life everyday, no matter the circumstance. Enjoy your journey and learn all you can.
The last person that should tell you no about a positive dream/vision you have, is YOU! Walk not in fear and go create your road map to success!
